A toroidal deflection coil for t.v. receivers has the coil windings positioned by grooves in end caps placed on a toroidal ferrite core. A padded ring (4) is provided on the outer side of the smaller end cap (3). It carries on its periphery a number of clamping slots in which the winding starting or finishing wires are held. This arrangement permits the ends of the winding to be accurately positioned while permitting a certain amount of pull. The positioning is accomplished solely by pulling the wire in the clamping slot without glue, tape or similar.
