A frame for a window sash has a metallic carrying frame (2) and a retaining frame (3) which is likewise metallic. The carrying-frame legs (4) have a rebate (4a) for a glass pane (9), and the retaining-frame legs (5) are provided, opposite this rebate (4a), with a projecting portion (5a) for retaining the gas pane (9). On the side directed towards the frame interior and on that directed towards the frame exterior, the carrying-frame legs (4) are provided with a groove (4b, 4c) into which there engages a portion (7a, 7b) of plastic connecting pieces (7). The grooves (4b, 4c) are delimited on both sides by walls parallel to the plane of the frame. If a connecting piece (7) is located in an intermediate position, a free interspace is present between the bases (4d, 4e) of the two grooves (4b, 4c) and the connecting-piece surfaces (7d, 7e) directed towards the said bases (4d, 4e). Each connecting piece (7) can therefore be displaced transversely to the carrying-frame legs (4) in which it is retained. The retaining-frame legs (5) are clipped by means of their webs (5a, 5d) onto the connecting pieces (7). <IMAGE>
