Prodn. of reinforced sintered metals, cermets, porcelain, earthenware, glass, and other materials in which reinforcing effects as well as e.g. increase in thermal conductivity are obtd. comprises adding to a base material (mixt) in a liq. pasty, powder or molten form etc. an unlimited wt. proportion of approx. needle-shaped reinforcing bodies of which the dia.:length ratio is over 1:2 but is otherwise unlimited w.r.t. material shape or quality. Materials of improved mechanical properties and thermal conductivity are obtd.
