摘要
1,238,978. Valves. AMERICAN STANDARD Inc. 11 Nov., 1969 [3 Feb., 1969], No. 55060/69. Heading F2V. A mixing valve cartridge 35, which is adapted to be incorporated in a faucet comprises a base 49, a two-piece cover 51, 53, a valve seat 151, a slidable valve member 175, and an operating mechanism 39, 93. Formed in the end face 139 of base 49 are three ports of which two, the inlet ports, are of identical size and have disposed therewithin sealing rings 140, and of which the third, the outlet port, is larger than the first two and has disposed therewithin a sealing ring 149, all sealing rings project beyond the end face 139 and into recesses formed circumadjacent corresponding ports in the seat 151. Selective communication between the inlet ports and the outlet port is achieved by an annular channel 177 formed in the esat-contacting face of valve member 175, such channel having in the vicinity of the inlet ports a stepped side wall which serves to gradually change the flow direction and hence to minimize noise. The operating mechanism is formed by a bush 93 which is allowed a limited degree of rotation between members 51 and 53 as a result of the provision of mutually engaging lugs (103, 117, Fig. 8, not shown), and of a member 39 which is allowed a limited degree of rocking within the bush by virtue of the provision of stops 135, 137. The valve member is also restricted in its motion by the provision of a tail section 185 which at all times is at least partially disposed between a pair of guides 191, 193. A lubricant containing plastics material layer 199 is provided on the cover-contacting surface of valve member 175. In use, rocking of member 39 from the vertical (fully closed) position places recess 177 in communication with the inlet ports in the seat and also increases its degree of communication with the outlet port. Variation of the ratios of liquids entering the outlet port from each of the two inlet ports is effected by turning bush 93 about its axis, maximum variation being obtained when the valve member has been moved to the position shown in Fig. 11. When mounted in a faucet, the cartridge sealing rings 140, 149 egnage a manifold (21, Fig. 3, not shown), and the assembly is completed by a decorative spout and escutcheon (23 and 37 respectively, Fig. 1, not shown), a single operating lever (41, Fig. 1 ) being mounted on member 39.
