The coating is obtained by plasma spraying a powder mixt. composed of Mo contg. 0.5-45 wt % of metals Ni, Co, Fe, Ti, V, Cr, Al, W, Ta, Re and/or Zr, and 0-8.0 wt.% 0, 0-0.5 wt.% C, 0-0.5 wt.% H. PRef. the powder mixt. contains in addn. one or several carbides of the elements Ti, Ta, Nb, Cr and/or Mo of up to 90 wt.%. The alloy is used for hard and wear resistant coatings on machine and engine components such as piston rings, and on packing strips of rotary piston engines. |
