<p>1482015 Electrographic substrates DOW CHEMICAL CO 11 Nov 1974 [14 Nov 1973] 48644/74 Heading C3P A process for preparing an electrographic substrate comprises coating a substrate (e.g. a paper sheet) with a latex comprising: (A) a copolymer of (a) a styrene compound, (b) either (i) a conjugated diene hydrocarbon or (ii) an alkyl ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid (the alkyl group having 1-18 carbon atoms), and (c) 0À5-8% by weight of methacrylic acid or maleic acid; and (B) 0-2 parts by weight of pigment per part of the copolymer, and drying the coating to form a continuous film. The diene may contain 4-10 carbon atoms. The pigment may be, e.g. clay, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, talc, zinc oxide or barium sulphate. The latex preferably has a solids content of 40-55% by weight, the particles preferably being of size 1300-2500 Š.</p> |
