1481753 Blood dialysis apparatus RHONEPOULENC INDUSTRIES 23 April 1975 [23 April 1974] 16866/75 Heading B1X An artificial kidney comprises a dialysis apparatus 1, with at least one dialysis membrane 2 separating the apparatus into a first (3) and a second (4) compartment, a blood inlet and outlet for the first compartment, a dialysis liquid inlet and outlet for the second compartment, a constant volume closed circuit 5, including the second compartment, a reservoir 6 and a feed pump 7 connected to the dialysis liquid inlet and outlet, for pumping dialysis liquid through the circuit, and means diaphragm 10, for smiultaneously maintaining a first zone in which the pressure of blood in the first compartment is higher than the pressure of dialysis liquid in the second compartment and a second zone in which the pressure of blood is lower than that of the dialysis liquid.
