1481858 Flame resistant polyester fibres CIBA-GEIGY AG 13 Nov 1974 [13 Nov 1973] 49202/74 Heading C3R Flame resistant fibres are made from a linear polyester of relative viscosity of 1À1 to 2À0 derived from a dicarboxylic acid component at least 50 mol per cent of which is terephthalic acid and a diol component at least 50 mol per cent of which is ethylene glycol or 1,4-butanediol and 2 to 30 mol per cent of which is a diol of the formula in which R is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or phenyl, and X 1 , X 2 , X 3 and X 4 are chlorine or bromine. The examples describe polyesters derived from dimethyl terephthalate, optionally with dimethyl isophthalate, ethylene glycol or 1,4- butanediol and 1,3-bis(2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxyethyl) -4,5,6,7- tetrabromo - benzimidazolone or 1,3 - bis- (21 - hydroxyethyl) - 4,7 - dichloro - 5,6 - dibromobenzimidazolone.
