<p>1482111 Corrosion resistant films on steel SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd and IGETA STEEL SHEET CO Ltd 5 July 1974 [24 July 1973] 30013/74 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and C7] Corrosion-resistant films are formed on steel surfaces by coating with a composition comprising 10-30% wt. of at least one of phosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid, chromic acid or their salts, 5-35% wt of an organic macro moleular compound stable in an acid medium and a non aqueous volatile solvent. The coated steel is dried at 65-150‹C for 2-10 seconds. The organic compound may be polyvinyl butyral. resins and acryl latex and the solvent an alcohol or ketone. In an example the coating composition contains 10% polyvinyl butyral resin, 15% lead trimethylate, 5% zinc polyphosphate 7% lead chromate, 50% ethanol, 1% surface active agent and balance water.</p> |
