<p>1482094 Incineration of oil-containing waste sludge; burners SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd and SUNRAY REINETSU CO Ltd 15 Nov 1974 [16 Nov 1973] 49637/74 Headings F4B and F4T An incinerator for oil-containing waste sludge comprises (i) an upper combustion chamber 2 provided with at least one burner 8 for spraying into the chamber and incinerating therein a mixture of oil-containing waste sludge and oil so as to convert the unburned portion of the waste sludge to semi-molten particles; (ii) a lower settling chamber 3 provided with combustion gas outlet means 18, 19, 20 and clinker recovery means 21, 22, 23; and (iii) a throttle portion 4 between the combustion chamber 2 and the settling chamber 3 to cause aggregation of the semi-molten particles in the combustion chamber into clinker form. The oil-containing waste sludge and oil is mixed in a tank 5 and fed through a pipe 13 to the burner 8 which is of the rotary spray type. The burner includes a rotary cup 10 and fan 15. Combustion air in indicated at 17. The gas outlet means from the lower chamber 3 comprise a gas duct 18, a chamber 19 containing a heat exchanger, and a flue 20. Baffle plates 25 prevent fine dust from flowing into the flue. The clinker recovery means comprise an ash draining portion 21 water tank 22 and conveyer 23. The oil-containing waste sludge and oil may be mixed in a ratio of 2 : 1 by weight. The temperature of the upper chamber may be 1000‹ to 1600‹ C. Specified oil-containing sludges comprise activated white clay or activated bauxite or acidic white clay. Specified oils for mixing with the sludges are fuel oil or waste oil.</p> |
