<p>1455097 Cutting bitumen J-J COLLET 30 Dec 1974 [16 Jan 1974] 56062/74 Heading B5A Cakes of bitumen, &c., are cut from a sheet 2 thereof during the cooling of the sheet in a basin 1 into which it was previously cast by cutting transversely at one end of the product, a strip of width equal to one dimension of the cakes to be cut (Fig. 2), raising the strip as it is cut and simultaneously unrolling underneath the strip a belt run 44, and depositing the strip on the belt run while avoiding any relative movement between strip and belt run; when the strip has been completely cut and raised (Fig. 3), the belt and strip are moved in the other direction in a stepwise motion, the length of each step corresponding to the other dimension of the cake to be cut, and during each pause of the belt and strip, a cake of product is cut out of the front end of the strip and removed (Fig. 4); when the strip has been cut completely into cakes, the process is repeated on the next strip of product, and so on.</p> |
