[Also in Divisions F2, H1 and H2] A rotary coupling transformer attached to a rotary head transducing drum 15, Fig. 2, having four magnetic transducing heads 17 sweeping over a magnetic tape has the heads 17 connected to respective primary windings 32 disposed in annular core discs 33 secured to an axially slidable sleeve 43 rotating with the extension shaft 71 and the rotor 34 of the coupling head motor. The co-operating stationary secondary windings 37 are carried on stationary core discs 37 and have output leads 41. End float of the motor shaft 71 does not vary the air gaps between the primary and secondary windings since these are maintained by spring 73 which keeps bush 74 in the rotating slidable sleeve 44 against the sapphire or tungsten carbide ball 78. The position of ball 78 can be varied by adjusting the tungsten carbide tipped screw 82.
