In a process for coating articles, especially tubes, with powdered fusible coating materials, preferably synthetic resins, in which the article is heated above the melting point of the coating material and the latter is brought into contact with the heated article in the fluidized state according to the fluidized bed process, the article is supported in gaseous connection with the fluidizing chamber containing the coating material and the coating material is drawn by suction in the fluidized state from the fluidizing chamber and along the surface to be coated. The article may be further heated and rotated during coating. In a described form of apparatus the further heating is by a gas burner. Excess powder may be re-circulated to the fluidizing chamber. |
