The semiautomatic system is for the control of the driving and/or braking system of a railway train by information exchange between the vehicle and the track, not requiring special track lines, but permitting high traffic densities and reducing power consumption, which can be fitted at reasonable cost to existing systems. The system operates by the presence of the train on the track plus supplementary information which is transmitted to the train only at specific points and fed to a memory. This is interrogated by a cycle controlling the braking process, at a rate determined by the distance travelled from the information transfer point as determined by a precision elapsed distance metering system.
|
