1,201,564. Securing door handles on spindles. MICRO & PRECISION MOULDINGS (CHELTENHAM) Ltd. 8 May, 1969 [9 May, 19681, No. 21982/68. Heading F2U. Door handles 1 are secured on the ends of a square spindle 16 by pawl or wedge members 13 provided with ratchet teeth 14 engaging complementary teeth 15 on the spindle, which prevent disengagement of either handle by an axial pull but permit disengagement by an axial push, whereby the spindle and other handle can be withdrawn together from the opposite side of the door. As shown members 13 are integral and connected by an end piece 20, and have wedge surfaces 17 engaging a conical surface 18 of the handle 1, members 13 being separated by wedges 19 when the handle is pushed inwards against a stop flange 8. In a modification, Figs. 4-8 (not shown), the pawls (27) are formed as separate members loaded by an axial helical spring (38) acting also as a return spring for the handle.
|
