The cable suspended transport device has a drive mechanism with drive pulley carried on a frame from which the lower end of the main shaft projects, which end is releasably coupled to the drive pulley. The main shaft is carried in the hollow drive shaft which itself is carried in the housing. The main shaft is releasably coupled to the hollow shaft by a chuck or similar coupling. The hollow shaft is connected with the drive mechanism by means of an annular flange secured to a corresponding flange of a spur gear wheel by means of bolts, the spur gear being driven by a pinion.
