<p>The clamp for the outer layer of cables provides protection to a plug, socket or bulkhead fitting such that the cable junction is sealed against the ingress of water. Sealing is achieved using a short rubber sleeve clamped against the outer layer of the cable and against a shoulder within the bulkhead by a collar threaded onto the fitting The rubber sleeve has an internal diameter about that of the cable and has an undercut shoulder which is pressed inward by the securing outer collar. The forward or bulkhead face of the sleeve is recessed conically against the castellated edge of the inner part of the fitting.</p> |
