The vehicle-mounted unit for receiving, tilting and depositing a heavy container has two angled support arms (17,18) each with an approx. vertical and a horizontal limb. The horizontal limb has an upward hooked end (21) and is of a length which corresponds to the spacing between the pivot pins (22) on the container to be supported. The support arms are coupled at the top ends of their vertical limbs to the top ends of L-shaped main support beams (6,7) which are swivably attached to the vehicle chassis (5) and can move about their swivel axis (8) by two hydraulic cylinders (9,10). The pivot pins are releasably connected to the container.
