The pane of glass to be wedged in place is in a window or door wing frame, incorporating a frame section with a glazing channel, and with a wedging plate at its base which can be moved against the pane edge by screw action. A connecting arm (14) links the wedging plate (15) to a matrix unit (16) penetrated by the screw (17). The working head (18) for the screw is laid in the glazing channel, close to the wedging plate and parallel to the plane of the glass pane, between the pane and an edge of the channel. Spring fittings (20) may be provided between the wedging plate and frame section, tending to draw the plate against the base of the channel.
