DC motor with brush pairs - has rectifier diodes in brush feed lines and controlled semiconductor switches with common short circuit action

The electric of c. motor having more than one pair of brushes comprises rectifier divide (s) in at least one brush feed-line. One rectifier divide is provided in all the "homopolar" brush feed-lines of one polarity. Each rectifier divide is provided with a shor-circuit lead fitted with a short-circuiting switch which is connected across the divide terminals. The short-circuiting switches associated with brushes of the same polarity, are actuated in common. The switches are preferably controlled semiconductor switches.
