<p>The railway wagon door is designed so that its breadth can be selected independently of adjacent window openings in the coach, and so that any passenger or piece of luggage jammed in the doorway can be automatically freed, while reliable warning is given of such jammings or of irregular door closure. The door comprises two, or more, door leaves, the one on the opening side (2) being hinged to the adjacent one (1). When the door is opened, the leaf is swung outwards, under spring action. When closed it is forcibly guided back into the closing plane by a stop attachment (11). The stop may be on a hinged and/or elastic mounting, permitting the leaf to open when a predetermined pressure is exceeded, and swinging it back into the closing plane when pressure falls below a certain level.</p> |
