The electric drive unit for kitchen appliances eliminates the necessity of special design for grinders, mixers, cutters and other tools which demand different speed and torque characteristics. The universality of the drive is achieved with the end shield (20) on the motor output side where the shaft (18) terminates as a pinion. The other end of shaft (18) is guided in the bearing of the U-shaped bracket (13) overhanging the commutator (12). The shield (20) bears against the supports (21) to which the stator laminations (10) are bolted, and features cup bearings (25,26) for the intermediate gear shafts. The spacing between the bearing (25) and pinion (30) is greater than that of bearing (26).
