The single-phase a synchronous motor with a three-phase current winding and squirrel-cage rotor has its phase-windings conductively connected to one another, and one of these phase-windings connected to a capacitor. One phase-winding is electrically insulated from the other two phase-windings and is connected in parallel with a resistor. The supply voltage is impressed on the phase-windings conductively connected to one another. The capacitor is connected in parallel with one of the phase-windings that are conductively connected to one another. This type of motor is suitable for use in driving the shaker unit or vibrator required in the paper making industry.
