1481082 Photographic silver halide materials FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 9 Oct 1974 [9 Oct 1973] 43800/74 Heading G2C Photographic materials comprise a support carrying (i) at least one photo-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer which contains either a compound capable of releasing an organic development inhibitor on development (a DIR compound), e.g. an interlayer colour correction (ICC) hydroquinone derivative or an ICC colour coupler, or an organic development accelerator which has an undercut interimage effect, and (ii) at least one colloid layer which absorbs organic development accelerator or development inhibitor released from the DIR compound, which layer contains at least one basic polymer having recurring units represented by Formulae I and/or II and/or III:- where R' is H or alkyl of 1-6C, A' is a group containing a secondary amino group (i.e. an -NH-group), a tertiary amino group or a quaternary ammonium group, which group represented by A1 may together with R2 complete a ring, or R2 may be H, alkyl of 1-6C or aryl, and each of m and q is 0 or 1 and n is 0, 1 or 2; where each A2 is H or substituted or unsubstituted alkyl; X# is an anion and d is 0 or 1; where A4, A5, A6 and A7 are each alkyl of 1-6C, or A4 and A5 and/or A6 and A7 may combine to complete a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring or rings, Y and Y2 are each alkylene, phenylene, xylylene or cyclohexylene and the alkylene group may contain a double bond, a triple bond, -SO 2 - or -O- in the chain thereof, Y3 and Y4 are each -coo- or -CON(Y5)- where Y5 is H or alkyl, X# is an anion and f, h and k are each 0 or 1. The absorbing colloid layer may be further from the support than the emulsion layer, or between the emulsion layer and the support or on the opposite side of the support to the emulsion layer. The photographic materials are preferably multi-layer colour materials having blue, green and red-sensitive emulsion layers containing colour couplers and interlayer colour correction, ICC, couplers or interlayer colour correction hydroquinone derivatives capable of releasing development inhibitors on development in which materials the absorbing colloid layer is an interlayer, or is between the support and the first emulsion layer or in between the outer protective layer and the uppermost emulsion layer. Suitable basic polymers, colour couplers, ICC couplers, ICC hydroquinone derivatives and organic development accelerators are listed.
