1481462 Suitcases LARK LUGGAGE CORP 11 Oct 1974 [5 June 1974] 44086/74 Heading A4G A foldable suitcase comprises a pair of flexible elongate side walls 16, 17 one over-lying the other in spaced relation thereto, a continuous peripheral wall 18, Fig. 2, of substantially constant cross-section joined at each edge to the edges of a respective side wall to define a suitcase enclosure, means within the remote ends of the enclosure for defining the depth of the enclosure and for defining a pair of discrete packing compartments 44, 45, within the enclosure, means underlying the wall 16 to define a garment suspension space 39, Fig. 3 of a length and width substantially the same as those of the wall 16, and means secured to the side wall 17 defining fold lines about which the two end portions of the suitcase can be folded together. As described, the suspension space 39 is defined on one side by a liner 38 and on the other side by the wall 16 which consists of gusseted panels 23, 24 joined by a zip 33. The space 39 includes a lug 41 for supporting garment hangers, and the end of the zip 33 when closed is covered by a flap 95. Each compartment 44, 45, Fig. 3, includes a frame 57, 57' connected by rivets to the wall 18 and feet 50', and is closable by a flap 46, 47 of the side wall 17 secured by a zip fastener. Flaps 72, 73 on liner 38, Fig. 7, are releasably connected with flaps 74, 75, respectively on wall 17 to close the compartments 44, 45 and also define an enclosure 69 accessible via a zip 70 in liner 38. The flaps 74, 75 support closable pockets 87, 87' in the compartments 44, 45. The fold lines are defined by edges 85, 85' of a flexible plate 80 secured to a rigid plate 78, lying under the wall 17 and supporting lugs for a pivoted handle 55. The suitcase may be suspended from a hanger 98, and is held in its folded position by straps and buckles 53, 54, 53', 54', Figs. 2 and 3.
