1480919 Multi-layer coating CIBA-GEIGY AG 25 Sept 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 41779/74 Heading D1L Coatings of photographic emulsion are applied to a film by passing the film beneath a slot formed by a pair of slide surfaces to the upper ends of which the emulsions are supplied. As shown in Fig. 4 a 5-layer emulsion 32 is applied to a film 23 by a slot formed between a pair of slides 24, 24'. The inner and outer layers of emulsion are supplied to the slot 25 from slide hoppers G, H whilst the intermediate layers are supplied from slides 27, 27', of a two-compartment hopper K, which meet at lip 28 above the slot 25. In an alternative manner of applying a 5-layer emulsion, shown in Fig. 5, the intermediate layers are supplied from slides 45, 46 and 47 in hopper N onto the single outer layer of emulsion on slide 33' of hopper M. The 4 layers then combine at slot 34 with the inner layer of emulsion supplied from slide 33 of hopper L. |
