<p>1446352 Pharmaceutical compositions MERCK & CO INC 28 Aug 1973 [1 Sept 1972] 40399/73 Heading A5B Oral palatable pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of hypercholestermia and biliary cirrhosis comprise a coacervate of cholestyramine and a hydrophilic colloid of a cellulose derivative such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose or hydroxy propyl cellulose. The composition may also contain a water-insoluble dispersing agent such as corn starch, potato starch or a carboxymethyl starch. A preferred composition comprises 8 to 10 parts by weight of cholestyramine, 0.8 to 1.3 parts by weight of dispersing agent and 1 part by weight of hydrophilic colloid. The compositions may be in the form of liquid preparations.</p> |
