<p>1493872 Fuel induction systems ETHYL CORP 29 Jan 1975 [6 Feb 1974 20 Aug 1974 23 Sept 1974] 3877/75 Heading FIB A fuel induction system for a spark ignited I.C. engine comprises a mixing chamber 6 which receives air/fuel mixture from the primary choke 3 of a carburetter, and reverses its direction of flow, to reduce air/fuel maldistribution, prior to it being distributed to the combustion chambers via intake runners 27 and pipes 28. An engine coolant jacket 14 partially surrounds mixing chamber 6. During periods of high engine load, secondary choke 20 is opened by throttle valve 22 to allow extra air/fuel mixture to flow into intake runner 27. The system may be adapted for use with a V-type multi-cylinder engine by incorporating a four choke carburetter (two primary and two secondary chokes) feeding two sets of intake runners, Figs. 2, 3 and 4 (not shown).</p> |
