AG 24 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 24545/72 Heading C3R A lacquer comprises a solution of the following components in an organic solvent: (a) 70-95 parts by weight of a copolyester having a glass transition point of from 30‹ to 50‹ C. derived from terephthalic and isophthalic acids and a glycol, (b) 5 to 30 parts by weight of a triazine resin and/or a hexa (alkoxy methyl) melamine, and (c) from 0À5 to 2% by weight, based on (b), of a catalyst which is a mineral acid, a monoalkyl- or monoaryl-substituted polybasic mineral acid or a salt thereof. The examples describe lacquers containing (a) copolyesters derived from (i) terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, ethylene glycol 2,2-dimethylpropanediol and adipic acid or 1,3,3-trimethyl. adipic acid or 1,6-hexanediol or sebacic acid and diethylene glycol, or (ii) terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, ethylene glycol and 2,2,4- trimethylhexamethylene glycol, (b) a benzoquanamine resin or hexamethoxymethyl melamine and (c) morpholine salt of p-toluene sulphonic acid. The lacquer may also contain titanium dioxide, chalk, silica or magnesium oxide. The lacquer may be coated on steel plate.</p> |
