<p>Impure methanol containing ethanol is substantially freed of ethanol by distilling a mixture consisting essentially of the impure methanol, ethanol and water with the aid of a distillation column in a region of which the methanol to water ratio is maintained substantially constant, and withdrawing a stream enriched in ethanol from a point near one end of that region.</p> |
