The system produces box lids from flat blanks fed into a folding machine. Each blank, which is preferably parted off from a continuous strip, is folded and glued after delivery into the folding mechanism, and as it travels smoothly and continuously along a curved path. During this movement the blank may be transported in a suitable cradle, the first folding operation being carried out at the start of this path, by a mechanism moving downwards in the cradle as it is rotated. The continuous strip may have narrow slots extending part of the way across it, and at regular intervals in the lengthwise direction. |
