<p>A thermoplastic copolymer contains 0.1-90% of monomer units of type (A) and 9.99-10% of units of types (B) and (C). Types (B) and (C) are distributed along the chain in a statistical manner. Type (A) has the formula -CO-R1-(O-R)-mO-R1-CO- where each of R and R1 is a linear branched chain or alicyclic 1-6C alkylene residue and m 5-200. (A) is attached to a gp. such as -NH-R-NH-. Type (B) has the formula -(CO-R"-NH)-m and (C) the formula -(CO-R"-CO-NH-R"'-NH)-m" where each of R" and R" is 2-22C alkylene of the types of R and R'; each of m' and m" = 1-150. The prods. are polyetheramide compsns. having elastomeric properties. They are suitable for prodn. of metalised articles, gaskets, special tyres, containers, film, stretch yarns of high elasticity, shoe soles, wheels for roller skates, cable insulation and auto components, etc. A condensn. prod. from 414.1 g tetrahydrofurane and 30.5 g caprolactam prepd. by heating at 5 atmos. press. under N2 at 230 degrees C gave excellent injection moulding material.</p> |
