Hollow section sill for sliding windows - collects rainwater and has siphon sealed water outlet reducing differential pressure effect

The hollow section member (1, 2) may be used as a window frame sill in partic with sliding sashes, and doubles as a rainwater drain. Openings (5, 6) in the top lead water into the sill, and an inclined plate (9) leads (10) to a baffled outlet. The latter forms a siphonic seal against differential pressures. The baffle may comprise a 'U' section (13) contg. a 'T' section. The 'U' may be fixed to the sill by an arrow-headed (15) projection engaging a spring clip (18). The spring clip is pre-placed in a groove (17) in the sill (1). The web (19) of the 'T' locates centrally in the 'U' (13), terminates above the invert and has an inclined downward return (23) of the outer flange. The return (23) shields the water outlet (25) in the upper zone of the outer 'U' leg, and the inner flange is cut out (25) to form an inlet for water draining (10) from within sill.
