Vehicle disc brakes with differential control - has mechanical link to brake front wheels through reaction of rear brakes

The disc brakes of the front and rear wheels are braked by separate circuits linked by a mechanical link operated by the reaction of the rear brake. The rear brake calipers are on swivel mountings and as they brake they are dragged with the brake disc to press the mechanical link. This operates a second hydraulic master cylinder to operate the front brakes. The system ensures that the rear brakes engage immediately before the front brakes. The system is adjusted so that the front brakes operate at a set value dependant on the rear brake reaction, to achieve a properly balanced braking. No complex brake force distributors are required and the system operates safely with little chance of error.
