Non arcing electrical plug and socket system - uses mercury switch which is operated by insertion or removal of plug into socket

The electrical connection system uses a plug and socket connection. The supply socket has locking means for an anti-arcing switching element. The plug has an unlocking means so that penetration of the plug pins into the socket unlocks the switching element. The antiarcing device is a mercury switch which cuts the supply voltage of a phase in a first position and connects the voltage in a second position. The switch locking means is a piston which penetrates into an orifice of a fixed base and into an orifice of a displaceable base carried by the switch.
