Container for packing food consists of metal foil with a layer of plastic on one side. The container opening is surrounded by a horizontal flange with a roll over edge. The flange is supporting a sealed on cover from the same material and of a larger outline than the container flange. The cover (9) which is positioned centrally over the container opening is projecting over the edge flange (5) of the container. The edge part of the cover (9) is bent downwards and is sealed to the roll over edge (6) of the edge flange (5).
