In a process for packaging rolls of paper, fabric etc. in a web of film. The roll is transported axially and at the same speed as the packaging film being drawn out and carried with it. In the fabric roll zone the film is stretched into a C-shape. The free edges of the film are laid round the surface of the roll, then stretched and bonded together. The process is automatic and the appts. can be adapted to handle rolls of a wide size range.
