The rivet pins on the plastic component are inserted through corresp. holes on the plate-shaped object with the pin ends projecting slightly on the other side. The pin ends are heated by hot air blown from a tube onto them until they reach m.pt. The heating process is slower than is the case when a hot riveting tool is used. - After heating, a cold riveting tool is applied to the heated rivet pins, causing them to deform plastically, their projecting parts being pressed against the plate-shaped object to form rivet heads. The pins are then allowed to cool in the cold riveting tool which maintains pressure force on them. - The process of allowing the rivet pins to cool in the cold riveting tool under maintained pressure produces a constant tension force in them, thus ensuring a completely gap-free union. |
