<p>A food container consists of a thin-walled metal tube, closed at one end and open at the oher, which is coated on the inside with a layer 1 mil, pref. 0.5 mil, thick of comestible epoxy resin (I) cured with a (substd.) dicyandiamide (II) and free from low mol. wt. org. cpds. Esp. the coating is a thermoset and compared with (I) applied from a solvent then cured, has better adhesion, greater density and lower porosity. Coatings are smooth (no blisters caused by solvent evaporating), of uniform thickness and, when a plasma spray process is used to apply them, require no additional energy to cure them.</p> |
