<p>The housing carries rods which engage a pair of inner plates located between a pair of outer plates attached to the spindle connected with the load, with friction material between the respective outer pairs of discs. The lower part of the spindle carries a pulley with a friction belt around it. The inner plates are interconnected by bolts with springs around them to take up tilt between the inner plates. The lower outer plate is integral with a hub enclosing a boss on the belt pulley carrying ratchet teeth acting as a clutch between them. These teeth are designed to ensure smooth load lowering.</p> |
