The lamp for use with a high intensity light source and has a reflecting shell with a roughly circular aperture bonded by an edge, and is constructed such that the reflecting shell (1) is open in its upward direction and a bare wall (3) which limits the lower surface. The upper aperture limiting edge (2) is of longer diameter than the lower side of the shell (1). The light source (6) is mounted within the shell (1) in a fitting (7) such that the light beams emitted by it below the horizontal plane of the upper edge (2) are reflected up and over this plane. The shell (1) is held at a specific distance from the light source (6) by a frame work (8).
