1480439 Gas separating nozzles MESSERSCHMITT-BOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH and KERNFORSCHUNG mbH GES FUR 24 March 1975 [20 April 1974] 12256/75 Heading BIL [Also in Division B3] In the manufacture of a nozzle used for separating gaseous or vapourous materials of different molecular weight e.g. the separation of isotopes, and wherein the nozzle is formed between adjacent lips 10, 35, 36 of an elongate bar 2, each bar is machined in a method comprising drawing a pre-shaped bar 2 along precision slide tracks 3, 4, pressing the bar against said tracks by means 5, 6, 7 in the vicinity of a scraping tool 9, and engaging the tool 9 with the bar 2 as it is drawn along the slide tracks to form the lip 10, 35, 36 by a chip removing operation. A pair of bars 2 are mounted in a dovetail groove in a body portion and retained therein, by locking balls 49. Adjacent a nozzle is placed a deflection groove 41 which directs the flow of a gas around the channel and through the nozzle. An arrangement is shown in Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) in which a plurality of nozzles are mounted to provide multi-stage separating of heavy and light fractions. |
