In an embodiment several such rings are provided in each of several overlapping layers and the inner layer is spaced from the pressure vessel wall by concrete for thermal insulation and shock-absorption. A method of providing the vessel/ring combination is described in which a ring is made by winding sheet material on to a rotating former.</p> |
