<p>1423472 Laminates B F GOODRICH CO 15 March 1974 [16 March 1973] 11558/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Laminated material for making car seats is made by (1) coating the nylon facing material of the seat with a polymer latex in which the polymer is particulate, the particles consisting of a core of polyvinyl chloride and an outer shell which is a copolymer of ethyl or butyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, N-methylolacrylamide and acrylic acid, (2) drying the latex coating to form a heatsealable adhesive layer, and (3) dielectrically heat sealing the thus coated facing material, to a fibrous backing material, adhesion being effected by means of the molten polymer coating. The latex polymer particles may more generally comprise a core of a vinyl or vinylidene halide polymer or copolymer, and a shell polymer of one or more monomers selected from (a) C 2-12α,#-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids; (b) acrylamide or a C 1-4 alpha alkyl acrylamide and N - C 1-12 hydrocarbon - substituted derivates thereof; (c) N-alkylol and N-alkoxyalkylamides of the formula wherein R is H or C 1-4 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is H or C 1-12 hydrocarbon, and n is an integer of from 1-4; and (d) C 1-12 alkanol esters of acrylic and methacrylic acid, with the proviso that at least one (c)-type monomer is used. Other substrates specified are textile fabrics, papers, fibreboard and plastics films. A large number of synthetic fibrous materials are specified as being suitable in the form of woven or non-woven textile fabrics.</p> |
