Unsaturated Polymers of Heterocyclic Olefins Polymers having repeating units of the general formula I (I) where Y and Z are the same or different and each denote -H, -COOR1 or -CON(R2)R3, with the proviso that Y and Z do not both denote -H, or Y and Z together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached denote a divalent cyclic group of formula (II) A denotes -O- or -N(R4)-, R1 denotes -H, C1-C4 alkyl or C2-C4 hydroxyalkyl, R2 and R3 each denote -H, C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 hydroxyalkyl, and R4 denotes -H, -OH, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 hydroxyalkyl or C1-C4 alkoxy. The carboxyl-containing polymers are useful in water treatment.
