The strip is heated to a temp. above the recrystallisation temp. opt. held at this temp. and rapidly cooled by immersing in a bath of moten salts. The temp. of the bath of molten salts is pref. 250-500 degrees C. The rate of cooling in the bath is 35-500 degrees C/s. After cooling the strip is annealed or overaged by heating to 300-500 degrees C for >15s. The strip is heated to 800-1000 degrees C, pref. 850-960 degrees C, and then immersed in the bath of molten salts for >1s. to reach a temp. of 250-500 degrees C. The treatment is esp. suitable for steels for pressing and galvanising. Surface oxidn. is reduced which is particularly advantageous in galvanising. |
