摘要 1528270 Apparatus for detecting glucose MILES LABORATORIES INC 7 Dec 1976 [18 Dec 1975 6 May 1976] 51007/76 Heading B1X [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for measuring glucose in body fluid comprises a member 29 whose lower concave face has a groove 32 (Fig. 2 not shown) defining a sample flow passage on one side of a semi-permeable membrane whose other side is clamped by means 14, 48 against a matching convex face 8 comprising a central anode 11 and annular cathode 12, the membrane 22 comprising a layer of glucose oxidase 25 which converts glucose within the membrane to H 2 O 2 detected and measured by electric circuit 54. Anode 11 may be platinum, cathode 12 and member 29 may be silver and are in electrical contact. Membrane 22 comprises an upper layer 26 of gold, platinum, palladium, silver, alloys thereof or carbon, whose thickness is similar to the pore size of polycarbonate layer 23 (300Š), and a bottom layer 24 of cellulose acetate. Layer 26 may be treated with sodium dodecyl sulphate as a wetting agent when blood samples are tested. Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) illustrate how the membrane is clamped between members 13 and 29, expelling water and air bubbles from beneath it until O-ring 27 completes the seal.
