Guaranteeing payment of issued cheque - using monetary value stamps issued by bank and attached to cheque by originator to prove funds available

Payment of an issued cheque is guaranteed by means of stick-on stamps attached to the cheque by the originator. Several stamps are provided, covering a range of monetary values, and issued by the bank to cover the amount available in the account. The stamps (12) are on a card (11) and peeled off as required. This card is printed with the name of the bank (23), the account number (25) and other details (22, 24). The cheque has a band printed across its face provided with panels for the stamps, and also has the standard banking information. The counterfoil has a grid for recording stamps used.
