The invention relates to a multipurpose ladder which has at least three ladder parts (13, 14, 23) with rungs (18, 19, 26). Two of the ladder parts (13, 14) are essentially the same length and interconnected in an articulated manner for use as a stepladder and/or leaning ladder. The third ladder part (23) can be attached to at least one of the two other ladder parts (13, 14) for its lengthening and connected thereto. It also has an easily releasable fastening device in such a manner that a lengthening of one of the two other ladder parts (13, 14), which are interconnected in an articulated manner, is made possible both upwards and downwards in given positions relative to one another. Arranged at one end and symmetrically in relation to the longitudinal central plane of the third ladder part (23) is a fastening device (29). Fastened on each upright (24) is a shaped guide piece which surrounds the respective upright (16, 17) of one of the ladder parts (13, 14) connected in an articulated manner and which has a catch device. <IMAGE>
