<p>A rotary switch has a low current capability and may be used for low voltage lighting circuits. The switch has an insulating material drum (2) with grooves on its underside. The drum (2) is fitted onto a spindle (1) which is in turn fitted onto a base (4). A spring strip (3) rivetted to the base (4) has a curved part which fits into a groove of the drum (2). The strip (3) makes contact with a terminal (5) fitted to the base (4). Rotation of the drum (2) deflects the strip (3). Deflection of the strip (3) makes or breaks the contacts. The drum (2) has high and low grooves corresponding respectively to contacts closed or open. The grooves of the drum (2) may be cylindrical, square or another shape. The cross-section of the strip (3) may be circular, square or another shape.</p> |
